What is Qigong for Health?

Qigong is a personal practice that uses different postures, called Daoyins, to cultivate Qi and invigorate a person's tissues, balance emotions, and calm the mind.

During the class, we will cover some mechanics of physical posture, coordinated breath, and focused intention.

The whole purpose of Qigong is to bring balance and create the free flow of Qi in the body.

Furthermore, Qigong aids people in connecting to their bodies, activating the Central Nervous System's parasympathetic system (the rest and digest mode) via the breath. This gets us out of our fight-or-flight response to our environment, the sympathetic nervous system's response.

I teach a certain set called the Insight Qigong Set. I have received my teacher training from the Red Thread Institute and am a Certified Qigong for Health Instructor.

This is held in a group setting, much like yoga classes. These postures can be done lying, sitting, or standing during class.

I teach every Thursday from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at The Yoga Connection and Spoke CoWorking (the link will take you to my email, and let me know you are attending class) from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Thursdays. I also started teaching at The Coalition Downtown, (instagram link) every other Thursday at 6pm.

Come and join in and let's get some Qi moving!
